An Evening with Gerard M Burns

Friday 24 Oct 6 pm-9 pm Maggie’s Centre, Edinburgh

Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre Edinburgh, are honoured to host an exhibition and exclusive reception at Maggie’s Centre, Edinburgh, showcasing the work of renowned Scottish Artist Gerard M. Burns.

As well as a full selection of artwork direct from the studio, a number of new works are being created exclusively for the event, giving you the unique opportunity to invest in a piece of Gerard’s wonderful work whilst supporting the vital work of Maggie’s Edinburgh.

Gerard will talk about his work, his inspiration and some of the major pieces on show.

It is fitting that Gerard has chosen Maggie’s Edinburgh for this exhibition as it was in Edinburgh where Maggie’s first opened its doors almost 30 years ago to help anyone diagnosed, living with or affected by cancer.

Gerard says

The funds raised at this event will be used to support people affected by a diagnosis of cancer in Edinburgh, Lothian and the Borders.”

a word from Gerard…

Hi everyone.

I thought it would be worth maybe offering you a few words in advance of the exhibition in the Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh on the 24th of October. As you will know, we planned to do this earlier in the summer. We planned to do it in Lyon and Turnbull, but it just ended up, logistically, for them and for us. It was just too complex.

As a consequence, we’re now doing it in the Maggie’s Centre, which I think is just perfect. I think it was really meant to be. It’s a beautiful space, as you will know, and the paintings will be laid out throughout the centre, so you’ll go on a bit of a journey, actually, with the artwork, which I think will be really exciting.

The evening itself should be something a bit special, quite apart obviously from the paintings. There’ll be a bit of chat with Stephen Jardine and me, and we’ll have a few other bits and pieces built in, which should make it a night to remember.

Not everything that you see on the webpage here will be there at the exhibition because there’s just too much stuff, but there’s a 50/50 split. Anything that sells within the context of the exhibition, Maggie’s will get that percentage. So if you can’t make it on the night and you see something here that you like, and you’re willing to commit, then Maggie’s will benefit, as I say, from everything that sells via this webpage.

I do, however, hope you can make it. I’m really, really looking forward to it, and it’s, it’s a great privilege to get the chance to support the amazing work that they do there, via my artwork.

So, fingers crossed, if everything goes according to plan, we’ll hopefully raise a nice sum of money for Maggie’s Edinburgh.
